WHAT DOES MY CHILD GET WITH THEIR LUNCH?
A child must take an entrée item and at least one fruit or vegetable. Students are allowed to take up to three sides, including milk. We encourage students to take plenty of fruits and vegetables.

CAN I PAY ONLINE?
Yes, visit www.myschoolbucks.com to set up an account for your child. You will need your child's ID# to set this up. Contact Angela Vianes, Food Service Director, for this information at:

WHAT IF I WANT TO SEND PAYMENT IN WITH MY CHILD TO BE PUT ON THEIR LUNCH ACCOUNT?
You may send in cash or check.  We ask that you send payment in with a deposit form.  Please select the appropriate form:    Berry/Rockwell/Johnson
                                            Middle/High School

HOW MUCH IS SCHOOL LUNCH? 
$3.10 for Berry/Rockwell/Johnson students ($.40 reduced price) and $3.45 for Middle/High School students ($.40 reduced price).

IS BREAKFAST AVAILABLE?
Yes, we serve breakfast at all five schools. The cost of breakfast is $2.40. Students who are approved for Free and Reduced lunches qualify for Free breakfast.

WHAT IF MY CHILD FORGETS THEIR HOME LUNCH AND HAS NO MONEY ON THEIR ACCOUNT?
The Bethel Board of Education allows students to charge account but no more than one (1) meal per service and no al la carte items may be cleared.

Parents will receive a weekly email requesting prompt payment for any charged meals.

Information about applying for free or reduced price meals and the State Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is provided below.

If a student's unpaid meal charges exceed the cost of the thirty (30) meals, the state requires that we refer the parent or guardian to our McKinney-Vento Act Homeless Education Liaison.
    
We understand that these are challenging economic times and if you are experiencing financial difficulties, there are applications for free and reduced meals through the link below, at any of the school main offices or at the Bethel Board of Education Business Office, 1 School Street, Bethel, CT.

ARE SNACKS SOLD AT LUNCH?
Yes...all snacks sold meet the State of Connecticut Health Snack Initiative and include assorted baked chips ($1.00), reduced fat cookies ($.50), low-fat ice cream ($1.00) and approved drinks (water & juice - $.50 - $1.50 at elementary level, $1.25 - $2.50 at secondary level.)

Snacks are sold at lunch service daily (or as time allows) at all schools.  Students can only get a snack if they have money on their account or have cash at time of purchase.  We do not allow snacks to be charged.  We sell snacks to students from 1st grade to 12th grade.  Elementary students are limited to ONE snack per day.  Kindergarten students are not permitted to purchase snacks.

INFORMATION ABOUT FREE/REDUCED LUNCH
You may apply for free/reduced lunch at any time during the school year. If your child/children was/were approved in the prior school year, they will carry-over for the first thirty (30) operating school days. You must re-apply every school year. If we do not receive a new application within the first thirty (30) operating school days, on the 31st day your child/children will be removed from the program. Send the completed application to the main office of your child's school or to the Bethel Board of Education, Attention: Jennifer Variale, 1 School Street, Bethel, CT, 06801. ONE APPLICATION PER FAMILY.

CT Summer Meals is a federally funded program administered by the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE). It provides children and teens 18 years-old and under with nutritious meals during the summer at no-cost, no ID required or questions asked. Meal sites can be found all over Connecticut from now to August while school is out. WHAT IF MY CHILD HAS DIETARY RESTRICTIONS?
We are working diligently on offering more gluten-free and vegetarian options. If your child has a food allergy that is a medical disability, please contact your school nurse to find out how to get proper paperwork completed by your child's doctor so that we can facilitate any special needs.
