Dr. Albert Sackey, Superintendent of Schools
The Bethel Public Schools district is proud to welcome Dr. Albert Sackey as our new Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Sackey brings a distinguished career of transformational leadership and proven expertise in advancing educational excellence and equity across Connecticut and beyond.
Educational Background and Leadership Experience
Dr. Sackey holds advanced degrees that reflect deep expertise in educational leadership, including a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership, Management & Policy from Seton Hall University, a Master of Science in School Administration and Supervision, and a Master of Science in Special Education. Throughout his career, Dr. Sackey has held progressively significant leadership positions spanning special education, curriculum and instruction, social-emotional learning, and comprehensive district administration.
Most recently, as Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning in Hartford Public Schools, Dr. Sackey provided visionary leadership in developing and implementing PK-12 curriculum and instructional programs serving over 16,000 students, with a strong focus on promoting academic achievement for all learners.

Dr. Sackey has demonstrated exceptional capability in:
● Managing complex budgets exceeding $125 million
● Supervising and developing diverse teams of administrators and instructional staff
● Implementing evidence-based teaching practices and data-driven decision-making
● Advancing school climate, social-emotional learning, equity, and inclusion initiatives that have resulted in measurable improvements in student performance
Professional Recognition
Dr. Sackey's leadership is widely recognized within the education community. He was named the 2014 NASSP state of CT Assistant Principal of the year and the middle school Assistant Principal of the year by the Connecticut Association of Schools. Dr. Sackey served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), represented Connecticut as an NASSP State Representative, and has received numerous awards for educational excellence. His commitment to continuous improvement, equitable resource allocation, and collaborative leadership has inspired colleagues and positively impacted thousands of students and families.
