Welcome to Computers!

Students at Johnson School attend computers on a four day special rotation for 40 minute classes. Throughout the year students will be learning important computer programs and skills, improving their keyboarding speed and accuracy, learning about digital citizenship issues including Internet Safety and Cyberbullying, learning to conduct research and how to navigate and use the web effectively. In addition to the Internet, some of the programs we will use are: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Comic Life, GarageBand, Pixie, PhotoBooth, iPhoto, iTunes, and Pages.

Throughout the year all students will be working to improve their keyboarding speed and accuracy. In School we are using Type To Learn 4. At home students can practice with a free online keyboarding program or just practice locating keys without looking at their hands. Students should word process with both hands and use the Home Row Keys.
