School Lunch Information
The Bethel Board of Education contracts with Sodexo Food Services to provide school lunch to Bethel students. We strive to provide a high quality lunch program which meets or exceeds all state and federal guidelines.
All of our elementary menu items will be prepared onsite using fresh ingredients so you can be assured your child will be eating only the freshest food available. We will be phasing this practice into the middle and high school menus over the course of the school year.
Lunch prices are approved by the Board of Education and are currently set for the 2010-11 school year as follows:
High School/Middle School
Breakfast - $1.85 (full price)
Breakfast (reduced) $.30
Lunch - $2.85 (full price)
Lunch (reduced) $.40
Elementary School
Lunch - $2.45 (full price)
Lunch (reduced) $.40
Bethel also offers families the opportunity to apply for free or reduced meals. Guidelines are established by the Federal Government and forms are available at each school. Please note: applications for free or reduced meals are strictly confidential. Should a child qualify for either free or reduced meals, the debit system will treat the child as if he/she has paid for lunch and no one will be able to tell that the child is receiving his/her meals at a reduced rate. Download the Application for Free or Reduced Lunch.
CHARGE POLICY Elementary and Middle School students whose accounts are at a negative balance will be allowed three lunch charges. High School students will be allowed one lunch charges. Accounts must be brought current to ensure your child will continue to receive a hot lunch, otherwise they will receive a cheese sandwich, milk and fruit until the account is brought current.
FOOD ALLERGIES Food allergies can be life-threatening. To minimize the chance of accidental exposure to a food that may trigger an allergic reaction, Sodexo provides "right to know" information in every school cafeteria. The information -- kept in a binder -- lists ingredients in school food that are common causes of food allergies. They include:
- Milk and milk products
- Egg and egg products
- Peanut and peanut products
- Tree nut and tree nut products
- Soy and soy products
- Fish and fish products
- Shellfish and shellfish products
Any student with a severe food allergy should NOT assume that a food is safe to eat and should always ask before eating cafeteria food. That student's parent or guardian should contact the school nurse to discuss dietary needs and restrictions.
