Prerequisite: Recommendation of eighth grade teacher or successful completion of Core Concepts of Mathematics in grade 9.

Description: PreAlgebra is the second part in sequence with Core Concepts of Mathematics designed for students who need skills reinforcement prior to studying algebra. Students are introduced to basic statistical concepts of mean, median, mode, and range. They read, construct and interpret graphs and charts, do sampling, and simple probability. Students continue to practice and use basic operations of whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percent within practical problems. Students also learn to recognize patterns, use order of operations, solve equations, use formulas, graph on the coordinate plane, and construct graphs and charts from data. Calculators and computer software are used to reinforce learning.
