College & Career Center

The College and Career Center is located in room 314 and open five days a week as a resource to assist students in their post high school planning. Students can find brochures, course catalogues and view books from many colleges, as well as information on careers and military service.  Students will be registered for Naviance Family Connection and may use the computers to conduct online college and career exploration; assistance from the College and Career Center Associate is always available.

Students are welcome to visit the career center when they have free time during the day and both before and after school on certain days. Students visiting during lunch or a learning lab must have a signed pass from a sending teacher.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships can found in two ways:

1. When BHS is directly notified of a locally-offered scholarship, it will be posted in Naviance Family Connection and will include description, criteria and deadline information.

Students are directed to log into their Naviance account and look under the “colleges” section.  Click on “scholarship list” under the "scholarship & money" section and a current list of all active scholarships will be displayed.  Applications for these scholarships are available in the College & Career Center (located in room 314) except when directed to apply or obtain applications online. Pay close attention to the due dates in Naviance. Completed applications should be returned to Mrs. Hallock in the School Counseling Office by the date indicated. These due dates are approximately two weeks before the scholarship applications are due, as it takes time to assemble each scholarship packet for mailing. These scholarships are also put into scholarship memos and emailed to parents via the Superintendent’s e-newsletter.

2. The second way to obtain scholarships is to browse the web for nationally promoted scholarship opportunities.  Links to these scholarship searches are listed below as well as in Naviance Family connection under “Links to other websites.”  Stop by the Career Center if you have any questions.
