Mrs. Susan Budris was appointed to the position of Director of Special Education and Pupil Services of the Bethel Public Schools on August 1, 2014. She has worked as a special educator for more than three decades. Throughout her career she has demonstrated a genuine passion for learning, which drives her professional practice. She possesses a strong capacity to develop relationships with students, parents, and school staff to support high quality Special Education services.

Mrs. Budris began her career as a Special Education teacher for the Watertown Public Schools. After teaching for 14 years she left public schools to raise her children and then worked part time for Unified School District #1 as a Professional Specialist. In 2003 Mrs. Budris returned to public education when she joined the Brookfield team as a Special Education teacher. She was promoted to Department Chair and served as the Interim Director of Special Education. After completion of her Administrative Degree she accepted a position as Administrator for Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services for the Norwalk Public Schools and then the Assistant Director for Student Support Services for the Monroe Public Schools. Mrs. Budris earned a Bachelors Degree in Special and Elementary Education from Keene State College, a Masters of Science Degree in Special Education from Central CT State University, a 6th Year in Educational Leadership from Sacred Heart University and an Executive Leadership Certification from the University of Connecticut. 

Mrs. Budris lives with her husband Ed and has three children Jacob, Emily and Patrick.
