Guidelines for teachers are:
-
To explain to students at the beginning of the school year
and subsequently, if necessary, the homework policy and how it is carried
out. Teachers may add to policy, but not delete. Additions should be in
writing and provided to both students and parents.
-
To ensure that students understand not only what to do, but
also how to do it, before leaving school.
-
To assign homework as a growth from classroom problems, projects,
and concerns.
-
To evaluate homework assignments according to the teacher's
purpose and to quickly provide feedback.
Guidelines for parents or guardians are:
-
To arrange for an appropriate work space for the student to
work.
-
To cooperate by encouraging their child(ren) to complete homework
assignments.
-
To make every effort to understand the value of various types
of homework, since the value differs with different circumstances and
conditions.
-
When planning vacations, to consider the fact that homework
is not a substitute for classroom instruction.
-
To make every effort to get assignments when their child is
not in school.
